All your Logic Games are belong to Robby

Mr. Mac takes the LSAT tomorrow. Yes, I realize he's 34, and he stands to be one of the older people in the room by over a decade. Yes, I know it's folly for a family to contemplate its primary wage-earner going back to school while still hanging onto the house and cars associated with our dual income lifestyle.

But we're doing it anyway. Because that's the kind of people we are. Crazy and impulsive, both of us. And also committed to one another completely and committed to our kids totally.

So tomorrow's test is really what it's all about. Mr. Mac graduated from college before most of this year's applicants hit puberty. His grades, while a potential factor, aren't as important as what he's done with his life after school. We have very little indication as to how the grades from the early 90's will be weighed, but I know that schools will largely disregard them should he blow the top off this exam.

Which, I might add, he's been doing since he started taking old LSAT's back in early August. Try 175 on his last attempt.

So happy vibes to my husband tomorrow. I'm trying to figure out if I can make grits in the crock pot (he has to leave the house at 7:15, and I'm not arising at 5:30 to make him some tasty grits unless it's absolutely necessary). I'm also making him ham biscuits (with real Virginia ham), and I'm making him snacky PB&J thingies to take along because he loves them. And I'm giving him a big fat kiss on the way out the door and all that. So I can begin my day caring for the pool before I start caring for Miss Baby and carting Miss M around to her various and sundry activities and associated fun stuff!

Another fun filled saturday for the entire Mac-clan! :-)

Introducing Friday Fature

Okay - I typed "Fature" instead of "Feature", which was totally freudian or whatever. That's very funny. Other blogs out there seem to have random Friday things. I don't have an i-Pod (nor will I anytime soon - not in our budget), so I can't do a Shuffle. So I'll have my own feature, the Friday Fature.

I've been trying to come up with ways to become more disciplined about my Weight Watchers program. Simply put, I have 50 lbs I'd like to lose. If I lost that much, I would be at 60 overall, and I'd weight approximately what I did when I graduated from High School.

So, my Friday Fature will be to post my weight loss total for the week and the aggregate weight loss total since June 6, when I began WW for real. I've taken a few months off - when my FIL died, diets flew out the window. It took 6 weeks to get over that, between the funeral and grieving, then Mr. Mac going overseas for the other funeral. Now, Mr. Mac has been in classes for the LSAT. So that's my excuse - I have been too busy taking care of the churrens to diet. Heh.

Anyway, I will weigh tonight for the first time in a month. I will post the weight change since last I weighed, and then I will aggregate the total amounts lost. And there you have it. The Friday Fature.

I'm trying so hard to do this - making it more "public" will certainly help. I hope. Mr. Mac says he will join me at WW meetings too, beginning next week, so that will be even more helpful. :-)

Time Flies

It's been a very long time since I have put anything up here. I've posted on some other blogs, in the comments. I think that instead of doing that I'm maybe supposed to 'trackback' and comment here, but I don't really know as I'm new to the 'blogosphere'.

Life has been, to be brief, hectic. Mr. Mac and I have been very busy between his LSAT class (4 hrs two weeknights and also 4 hrs on Saturdays), my Bible Study Group (a different night in the week), and all of Miss M's various and sundry activities that cover Wednesday and Friday evenings, and of course - Soccer Saturdays! Add to that Miss Baby, and you begin to see the picture.

Speaking of Miss Baby. She has FINALLY cut her first teeth. We started down this road in mid-August. She's 8 months 3 weeks tomorrow, so it's time. Some day, Miss Baby will also get hair. She has also learned to hold her own bottle, eat using her fingers and generally make more noises. Her favorite thing right now is to chase the kitties. Bo* tolerates the chasing and subsequent 'petting' (read: banging on his head with her palm). Luke* runs to the opposite side of the porch from her and looks across at us disdainfully.

One of these days, I'll get this blogging on a more regular schedule. Then maybe I'll tell the rest of the world about it. Heh.

* Yes, my cats are named Bo and Luke, as in the Duke Boys. Bo is a yellow (blonde) tabby and Luke is a grey (brunette) tabby. Ain't it a hoot? Every now and again, I want a dog to name 'Daisy'.

Walking and Talking

My niece is 10 weeks older than Miss Baby. Over Labor Day weekend, M & M (my neice) said her first word that I've heard - "Uh ooooooh". This was said after she threw her plastic chew keys on the ground while my sister and I were taking a walk with our girls. She will probably be saying "Uh oooooh" (with a perfectly round mouth for the "ooooh part", which is just adorable!) a fair amount.

Today M & M took a little stroll from one toy to another.

I don't want Miss Baby to be there yet. She and M & M are about 6 weeks apart developmentally (which makes sense - M & M was 2 weeks early, Miss Baby was 2 weeks late). So, I'm guessing that sometime close to Hallowe'en, we'll be seeing the same thing.

Uh oooooh, indeed.

A good 24 hours

Last night, when I was bringing Miss Baby back to the car from the Picadilly, and I had my hands full, she yanked the keys out of my hands and tossed them to the ground. Someone stopped and picked up my keys for me. When I was getting my lunch today, I had my hands full. Someone stopped and held the door open for me. Now, I've just received a call from Mr. DMD that I need to go get Miss M because her mom got called into work. Yay! More time for me and Miss M to hang out and do spelling quizzes and the like. Really, it couldn't work out much better for me today.

I need to begin taking thanks in these kinds of things. The world is a much brighter place being happy with small random good things.
